Sterling Consulting Network Set up your e-mail address in Outlook These instructions show you how to set up your e-mail address in Microsoft Outlook. There are many versions of Outlook so we will choose Outlook 2003, the most common as of this posting for our illustrations. Other versions will be similar but not exactly the same.Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook. You will see something like this at the top of the window:
Click on Tools. Step 2: A menu will drop down which looks something like this:
1. Click on E-mail Accounts... Note that your menu may not show everything. If you do not see E-mail Accounts... but do see something like the two little down arrows shown as 2. click on them and the full menu will display. Step 3: You will now see this:
1. Check the Add a new e-mail account radio button 2. Click on the Next> button. Step 4: You will now see this:
1. Check the POP3 radio button. 2. Click on the Next> button. (Note that the Next> button will be grayed (unclickable) until you check the POP3 radio button) Step 5: You will now see this:
1. This is simply your name. 2. This is your new e-mail address 3. Your e-mail address is your user name. 4. Your password will appear as asterisks. 5. Never check this box. 6. Always mail.whatever your domain name is. 7. Always mail.whatever your domain name is. 8. When finished click on the More Settings... button. Step 6: You will now see this:
1. Change this to whatever you want this account to be called in Outlook's list of accounts. 2. This is optional. Put whatever you want there or leave it blank. Generally you would put your company here. 3. This is also optional. Generally you put your e-mail address here. 4. Now click on the Outgoing Server tab. Step 7. You will now see this:
1. Always check this box. 2. Always check this radio button. 3. When finished click on the OK button. Step 8. You will now be back to this:
1. Click on the Test Account Settings... button. Outlook will generate a test message which will check your settings. 2. After that click on the Next> button. You can then click on the Finish button which will show up next and you are done. This page last updated on 05/26/2005 |
